When two technology organizations join forces, you often get great technology. And sometimes, you get a great event. In the case of SAP and Intel, you will get both.
SAP and Intel are presenting the “Art of the Possible,” a forum on big data, held at Intel’s Santa Clara campus on Tuesday, August 27. During the event big data experts will discuss how to strengthen your company’s competitive advantage with the SAP HANA® database and Intel® Distribution for Apache™ Hadoop® software
Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop running on SAP HANA is a great example of how co-engineering and collaboration can vastly improve the speed and resilience of big data analytics.
HANA is SAP’s blindingly fast database platform that consolidates transactional and analytical workloads into a single, in-memory process. Combining OLAP and OLTP structures into a unified landscape eliminates traditional relational limitations that have restricted the development of big data analytics.
SAP HANA is optimized specifically for the advanced features found in the Intel® Xeon® processor E7 family, providing real-time analytics on an enterprise-scale. HANA running on Intel Xeon processor E7-based servers doesn’t just accelerate analytics. This combination also simplifies the underlying database infrastructure and operational framework for greater efficiency, helping eliminate the complexity and delays of traditional data warehouse loading processes.
There are huge benefits to deploying Hadoop on Intel® architecture. As you successively optimize your infrastructure you gain additional levels of speed and performance. As seen in the following image, the gains delivered by a fully optimized Intel platform running Intel Distribution for Apache over a previous generation platform are enormous. Processing one terabyte of data on the optimized Intel Xeon processor E7 platform took just 10 minutes, while the previous generation solution labored four hours on the same workload.
